About Me

I was born and raised in Enterprise, AL and loved every minute of growing up in a small town that truly understood the value of community. I have Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in vocal/choral music education from Auburn University.  I began my professional career teaching middle school and high school choir before beginning full-time ministry in late 2001 after feeling God calling me away from public school education. In 2010 I felt the call to further my theological and music training, which led to earning the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Church Music from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary with emphases in worship, hymnology, and music history.

Besides my church responsibilities, I’ve recently taught church music courses at Truett McConnell University. I also enjoy teaching private voice and piano lessons, running, reading, and traveling. My wife Deanna is an educator and we were married in 1998. We have three sons.

Releasing Fall of 2022, my new book “Cultivating Intergenerational Worship” published by GC2 Press focuses on helping church leaders develop an intentional plan to develop corporate worship that involved all ages. Contact me to pre-order a copy.
